Imagine a place where creativity is encouraged, artistry is celebrated, and students are empowered to pursue their passions. That's what a fine arts academy is all about. At Canyon Breeze Elementary School, our K-8 academy, we provide a dynamic learning environment that provides opportunities for all students to express themselves and build self-confidence, through different mediums of art. Our academy offers students a wide range of fine arts opportunities. Our experienced and dedicated faculty will provide our students with personalized instruction and guidance, helping them to develop their craft and reach their full potential. Students will engage in a creative process which connects an art form and another subject area that meets evolving objectives in both. We will foster critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration skills that students can apply to any area of their lives. Our students learn the value of hard work and discipline, and develop a sense of self-confidence and resilience that will stay with them throughout their lives. At our academy, we also believe in the importance of community. Our students work together on productions, performances, and exhibitions, creating a supportive and collaborative environment that fosters sharing, creativity and growth. We also partner with local arts organizations and businesses to provide our students with real-world experience and the opportunity to make connections with the world around them.
Found on every campus throughout the Pendergast District, art classes are designed to build mastery in technique, composition/design, research, experimentation, and creative problem solving. Critical thinking, objective analysis of artwork, and the ability to communicate in the language of art will be developed. Students will be introduced to basic art techniques, which are the building blocks that will provide a solid foundation for future art lovers and artists.
It is often said that play is the primary work of students. The act of imagining, making, doing, and saying connects our body, mind, and heart - and helps fuel the leaps in learning we value most. Schools in the Pendergast Elementary School District have a long history of outstanding theatre performances. This theater-based instruction has been developed to serve the individual child, the entire class, and the community beyond the walls of the classroom.
Participating in sports at an early age offers several benefits that extend well beyond the physical aspects of regular exercise. Specifically, the social benefit of sports participation provides an unparalleled environment for hands-on learning and behavioral growth.
Here are the sports we currently offer throughout the Pendergast Elementary School District:
- Volleyball
- Basketball
- Soccer
- Cheer
- Track & Field
- Flag Football
In the Pendergast District, you will find robotics, jewelry design, coding, architecture, and music production at every school throughout the Pendergast District. In FUSE, students choose what to work on and set the pace. This means they emerge engaged, excited, and eager for more. STEAM Challenges are designed to get harder as students progress. FUSE teaches students how to use real world technologies while exploring topics they already love. Since challenges are designed around student interests, there is something for everyone to get excited about.
As students learn, they naturally share their new discoveries. A new culture of learning emerges as students celebrate each other's successes and overcome any setbacks along the way.
Competitive gaming has set the world ablaze! The Pendergast Elementary School District is excited to announce the Pendergast eSports League, which aims to captivate students' passion for video games through organized competition in a safe and secure environment at every school throughout the Pendergast District.
eSports is a form of competition using video games. In most cases, eSports are organized multiplayer video game competitions between competitors, which can take place individually or as teams. eSports are more than just video games; it is community, engagement, and relationship building.
As the eSports industry continues to grow, we are beginning to see an increase in eSports teams as an extracurricular activity in schools. Because eSports revolves around some of the video games that students play at home, many families struggle to understand how this extracurricular activity is beneficial to a student’s education.
Recent studies show that eSports can help a student’s well being, improve their reading skills, help develop problem solving skills, improve their social connections, and will even enhance their imagination and creativity. Furthermore, eSports promotes teamwork and cooperation with others and shows students the importance of community. Giving students early exposure to all facets of the eSports world can spark interest and help prepare them for future opportunities in graphic design, coding, leadership, video production, and even art direction.
Message from the Principal
Hello Canyon Breeze Community,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all to the new school year. As your principal, I would like to extend my warmest greetings and express my excitement about the journey we will embark on together over the course of this academic year. As we enter a new school year, I am reminded of the tremendous potential and possibilities that every new beginning brings. I believe that each one of us carries a unique set of talents, skills, and experiences that can contribute to our collective success as a school community. Our goal is to inspire, challenge, and empower each student to reach their full potential. As we move forward, my priority is to uphold a learning environment that is safe, inclusive, and stimulating. Our dedicated faculty and staff have been working tirelessly to prepare classrooms, update curricula, and develop engaging extracurricular activities that are designed to enrich our students' learning experience. Canyon Breeze is a Fine Arts Academy. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for our students to nurture their artistic talents while receiving a high-quality education. Fine arts academies are schools that specialize in the arts, offering students specialized instruction in areas such as music, theater, dance, visual arts, graphic design, and creative writing. At a fine arts academy, students are encouraged to explore and develop their creativity while also receiving a challenging and comprehensive academic curriculum. The arts play a vital role in education, providing students with a creative outlet to express themselves, develop critical thinking skills, and enhance their communication abilities. I encourage all students to embrace the challenges and opportunities that come with the new school year. Challenge yourself to be curious, motivated, and engaged in the learning process. I encourage parents to be actively involved in their child’s education, to communicate with teachers, and to support their children's academic ambitions. As your principal, I could not be more excited to welcome you all to another fantastic school year. I can’t wait to witness the tremendous achievements and accomplishments that this year will bring, and I look forward to working alongside you every step of the way.
Sincerely,
Ms. Lori Pizzo
Principal
